Cherry Cruise!

Cruise Ship Entertainer Hosts Main Stage at 2002 Festival

May 8, 2002, San Leandro, CA. --- Singer, comedian and cruise ship entertainer Tom Patrick has been selected to MC and provide entertainment on the Main Stage at the 2002 San Leandro Cherry Festival in Marina Park on San Francisco Bay, June 1st and 2nd. A local resident Patrick also appeared at last year’s festival.

“We’re excited to have Tom join us again this year, he’s a real pro” said Festival Entertainment Director and Recreational Coordinator D. Paiva. “Our goal is to provide 2002 festival attendees with continuously great entertainment on our main stage. His fun generating songs and clean comedy material will ensure everyone has a great time!”

Over the past 15 years Patrick has performed onboard ships and at numerous clubs, trade shows, festivals, conventions and retirement communities. His ‘Salute to Sinatra’ and ‘(Neil) Diamond Revue’ acts are very popular as is his general Las Vegas variety show style with big band and pop songs from the 1940’s to today. Patrick was a finalist in Talent Quest 2001 a national singing competition held in Laughlin, NV last fall and seen on TV’s ‘Good Morning America’. His new CD “Love is in the Air” is now available on REEL Records. Some copies will be given away during his appearance at the festival.

Formerly a full time entertainer with Dolphin and Premier Cruise Lines as well as Commodore Dinning Cruises, Patrick has also appeared aboard ship with American Hawaii Cruises. More recently the singing comedian was slated to sail with Renaissance Cruises before that line suddenly went bankrupt late last year due to the 9/11 tragedy in New York. Now home for the summer and slated to cruise again this fall Patrick is and has professionally appeared in Las Vegas, at local events as well as in South Florida where he was once an on-air radio personality with Z-93 FM. A recent San Leandro resident, Patrick is a former instructor for recreation adult learning courses and is a new member of the San Leandro Arts Council. He’s also a magazine columnist and a sponsor with the international charity ‘Wheelchairs for the World’. He’ll be performing regularly at The Palomares Cafe in Castro Valley through the fall.

Established in 1906 to celebrate the area’s history in cherry growing the annual event features a large parade and a two-day festival of fun, food, an expanded games area for the kids and entertainment at the city’s waterfront park (Neptune Dr. and Fairway Dr.). Over 30 arts, crafts and food booths will be available along with Cherry specialty foods. The main stage will feature over half-a-dozen of the most popular music and variety acts in Northern California, festival hours are 11am to 6pm on Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.
